Vita Power makes first Bay Area delivery of 100% electric RIB to Westpoint Harbor, Redwood City
Vita Power, the electric marine technology specialist, announces the first San Francisco Bay Area delivery of its line of 100% electric commercial RIBS to Westpoint Harbor in Redwood City.
The 5.5m electric SeaDog RIB will support the daily operations of the marina located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Compatible with fast DC charging, it combines high performance and practicality with a charge time of less than an hour, meaning that it is ideally suited to the requirements of ports and marinas. Instant high torque allows complex manoeuvres to be executed with ease, with VITA proprietary responsive controls providing maximal towing and pushing force even at low RPM.
At the reduced speeds typical of port activity, the SeaDog offers up to 10 hours of continuous use capability, while DC supercharging allows for rapid top ups between shifts with a 20 – 80% charge taking as little as 30 minutes.
The delivery of the SeaDog marks an important milestone for Vita’s entry into the US market and highlights California’s leadership role in the decarbonisation of the marine commercial sector, with operators able to benefit from key incentive programs such as the Commercial Off Road Equipment (CORE) Voucher Program pioneered by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and the Carl Moyer Memorial Air Quality Standards Attainment Program – both of which support eligible customers in replacing internal combustion equipment with zero emission equivalents.
Mark Sanders, President of Westpoint Harbor, comments: “Westpoint Harbor is very pleased to receive the first “SeaDog” 100% electric boat to be delivered in the region. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, our marina has been at the forefront of technical advances in the recreational marina industry, and a leader in advancing the development and adoption of electric boats. Westpoint Harbor installed one of the first E-boat “Superchargers” from Aqua superPower in 2023 and a second supercharger will begin operation this summer. The “SeaDog” rigid inflatable boat is amazingly powerful, agile in tight spaces and above all is silent and produces no airborne or waterborne pollution. This not only preserves the peacefulness of our environment, it makes for a perfect workboat for our harbor”.
Vita CRO for North America, Tanguy de Lamotte, states: “This is an important moment for Vita and electric boating in the US. For a long time our focus has been on developing reliable, high output commercial boats that deliver maximum emissions impact and performance for the customer. We’re delighted that Westpoint Harbor has chosen the SeaDog to support its decarbonisation efforts and are excited about the growing appetite for electric workboat solutions throughout the Bay Area and California.”
As well as the SeaDog, Vita also offers the 7.2m Seal commercial RIB with an extended battery option. The company is able to offer advice and support on available incentive programs to support commercial operators across the US.
