A green weekend at anchor with Greenline 45 Coupe Hybrid
Imagine a weekend escape where comfort meets responsibility, where the serene silence of the sea isn’t disturbed by the hum of a diesel engine, and where your impact on the environment is as minimal as your stress levels. Welcome aboard the Greenline 45 Coupe, a hybrid yacht designed to revolutionize your yachting experience with its advanced technology and unparalleled comfort.
The Greenline Hybrid Advantage
The latest 6G H-Drive system, able to cut emissions by up to 40% per year across the typical use cycle of a Greenline yacht, will be showcased at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2024 aboard the flagship 58 Fly Hybrid. This innovation underscores Greenline’s commitment to reducing environmental impact while providing a comfortable boating experience.
The Greenline 45 Coupe boasts a hybrid drive system that offers silent and emission-free navigation. With a full battery charge, you can cruise up to 20 nautical miles at 4-5 knots, perfect for a typical day on the water without burning any fuel. Not only does this reduce emissions, but it also dramatically cuts running costs—electric boating can be up to ten times cheaper than diesel.
Even without the hybrid system, Greenline’s standard solar panels provide substantial benefits. These panels continuously generate renewable energy, powering onboard lighting, refrigeration, and even air conditioning. This means no noise, no vibrations, no emissions, and no more warm bottles of wine! The convenience of having electricity available at all times truly enhances the onboard experience.
A Case Study: Palma de Mallorca to Ibiza
To illustrate the practical benefits of the Greenline 45 Coupe, let’s take a closer look at a weekend trip from Palma de Mallorca to Ibiza, with an overnight stopover at anchor in a bay near Andratx—a journey of approximately 60 nautical miles.
Day 1
Departure from Palma
Early in the morning, the Greenline 45 Coupe leaves the marina in Palma using its electric motor, running the air conditioning off the battery. After a quick top-up at the fueling station, the yacht heads towards Andratx. Just 1-2 nautical miles from the marina, the battery remains above 80%.
Switching to Diesel Mode
The picturesque journey from Palma to Andratx, about 20 nautical miles, takes roughly one hour at an average speed of 20 knots. In diesel mode, the electric motor acts as a generator, charging the batteries. After just 15 minutes, the battery level is back to 100%.
Anchored at Andratx
We anchor in an idyllic bay in Andratx for 48 hours, enjoying swimming, sunbathing, and sunset cocktails with dinner. The only sound is the gentle lapping of the water against the boat. All home appliances, including the A/C in smart mode, run off the battery bank. After 48 hours, including electric maneuvering in the bay, the battery is around 10%.
Day 3
Departure to Ibiza
Departing Andratx for Ibiza, the Greenline 45 Coupe cruises using its efficient diesel engine. The electric motor again acts as a generator, charging the LiPo batteries. After a two-hour ride, we arrive in Ibiza with 100% battery power.
Ibiza at anchor
Approaching Ibiza, known for its vibrant nightlife and traditional whitewashed houses, we switch to electric mode and enter the bay silently. We anchor in the north of the island for another 48 hours, with all home appliances, including the air conditioning in smart mode, running off the batteries. By the end of our stay, the battery level is at 10%, ready to recharge completely as we start the journey back to Palma in diesel mode, marking the end of a perfect long weekend.
A New Standard in Boating
The Greenline 45 Coupe offers a seamless blend of comfort and responsibility. Its hybrid drive and solar panels ensure that you can enjoy all the comforts of home while reducing your environmental impact. Whether you’re anchored in a secluded bay or cruising towards a vibrant island, the Greenline 45 Coupe promises a boating experience that is as considerate to nature as it is to you. So, next time you plan a weekend on the water, consider the Greenline 45 Coupe – a choice that sets a new standard in responsible yachting.
(Note: consumption figures include not only marina maneuvers but also the use of onboard home appliances and A/C in smart mode on sunny days with solar kickback).
