60 Sunreef Power Eco Wins at the World Yacht Trophies 2024

The Cannes Yachting Festival concluded with a pinnacle celebration recognizing the top winners in the yachting industry. The World Yachts Trophies, organized by Yachts France, is recognized as the industry’s most extravagant and prestigious award ceremony that rewards the best of power and sailing yachts launched during the year. On September 14th, 69 finalists faced an adroit jury of historians, journalists, and industry experts but only 30 of the most deserving emerged victorious.

Sunreef Yachts is proud to announce that the 60 Sunreef Power Eco claimed the ‘Best Electric Catamaran’ title at the world-renowned Cannes Yachting Festival, World Yachts Trophies 2024. This outstanding power catamaran surprised the masses with its many sustainable innovations, including high-performance batteries, an advanced solar power system, and an ultralight battery bank. Its bestselling features are a merger of zero-emission, noiseless, and vibration-free cruising in supreme comfort and luxury.

Electric catamarans manufactured by Sunreef Yachts are propelled by electric motors that draw power stored in advance, custom-made NMC chemistry batteries designed for each model. These lithium-ion batteries offer a prolonged lifecycle, and more power (despite optimized weight and compact size), and can be replenished by solar panels, or wind turbines, or a combination of those two – promoting a more energy-efficient and ecological alternative to traditional cruising. These power catamarans experience torque the moment their shaft is engaged, allowing them to accelerate faster and avoid hazardous sea states.

The in-house engineered solar power system from Sunreef Yachts is a standalone showstopper. With impeccable flexibility, the solar skin can be fully integrated into the composite structure (including the bimini roof, superstructure, bow terrace, and hulls) of the yacht to maximize energy generation throughout the day. These solar catamarans are quieter, experience little to no vibrations, and do not produce excessive heat allowing for a more comfortable journey. However, most importantly, these solar-powered electric catamarans significantly reduce the carbon footprint at sea compared to traditional yachts, making them a more environmentally friendly choice for yachting enthusiasts.

For this reason, the 60 Sunreef Power Eco electric catamaran also quickly became Fernando Alonso’s yacht of choice. Not to forget, its sister sailing catamaran, the Sunreef 60 E has also claimed first place at the Gustave Trouve Award for the ‘Best Electric Sailboat’ in 2021 for its one-of-a-kind carbon fiber bimini embedded with flexible solar panels as well as the usage of weight efficient and sustainable finishing materials such as non-toxic bottom paint.
